Maley & Wertz operates 15 USNR kilns for a total capacity of 900,000 board feet. A computer system monitors moisture levels in the wood throughout the drying process.

After removing the lumber from the kiln and before placing it in the storage, the wood is visually and manually re-inspected and re-graded based on color and width.

Energy Conservation
The kilns at Maley & Wertz use a process that turns the company's scrap lumber and sawdust into a gas that powers the kiln system. The result is lower energy consumption and a cleaner burning process.
